Gormley would make outstanding appeals judge

My wife and I have known Judge David Gormley for more than 10 years. And in that time, we never cease to be amazed by the depth of his knowledge, wisdom and sense of fairness.

We know Gormley as an extremely conscientious person, who carefully and thoughtfully weighs every side of an issue before drawing a conclusion. He was a Delaware Municipal Court Judge for more than six years. In that role, he started a diversion program for first-time drug users and underage alcohol offenders. He is currently a judge for the Court of Common Pleas here in Delaware County. In that role, he significantly reduced the backlog of cases which he inherited.

He also oversees a mental-health docket, which aims to reduce criminal recidivism by providing mental-health treatment to convicted felons. Prior to his judgeships, he was an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney with the Delaware County Prosecutor’s Office, prosecuting hundreds of adult felony cases from grand-jury presentation through trial and appeal. He went on from there to become an Assistant Attorney General with the Ohio Attorney General’s Office.

Among his many accomplishments there, he successfully defended our state motto, “With God All Things Are Possible.” From there, he became the Director of Legal Services for the Ohio Supreme Court, where he served as their in-house legal counsel. As you can see, David Gormley is an accomplished lawyer, devoted public servant and experienced judge. He deserves your vote for Judge of the 5th District Court of Appeals on Nov. 8.
