Bob Carper will be a long way from home this weekend, but the cause of his trip to California couldn’t be better.

The former Ashley resident and 1964 Buckeye Valley graduate will send his horse, El Gato Malo, into the Word Champion Breeders’ Cup $1 million turf sprint Saturday at Santa Anita in Arcadia, California. The horse drew the 11th post position and will face a handful of the best turf sprint competition in the world. The race will be televised live by ESPN and NBC at about 2:15 p.m.... Cont'd
