Hayes’ girls tennis team picked up a hard-fought win in its second outing of the season, handling visiting Grandview Heights 4-1 in non-league action Friday in Delaware.

All three singles matches were pretty competitive, with the Pacers snagging wins in two. Mallory Hackett outlasted Elinor Kibbey 5-7, 6-3, 10-5 at first singles while Jillian Goulet beat Molly Gilleland 6-3, 6-2 at second singles.

Hayes’ doubles teams sealed the deal. Kara Wegmiller and Kelsey Knodell teamed up to secure a 6-3, 6-3 win at first doubles while Paris Knipp and Emily Miklas notched a 6-3, 6-1 win at second doubles.

The Pacers’ lone loss came at third singles, where Grace Brinkmoeller nearly rallied past Grandview’s Alex Joseph before falling 4-6, 6-4, 8-10.

Big Walnut 3, Buckeye Valley 2

The Golden Eagles earned their second straight win Friday, edging Buckeye Valley 3-2.

Golden Eagle winners included Macie Kercsmar at first singles (6-0, 6-2), Katie Germann and Lexie Kirkpatrick at first doubles (7-5, 6-0) and Anna Faust and Abby Friend at second doubles (6-1, 6-1).

Buckeye Valley, meanwhile, got wins from Kasey Morris (6-4, 6-0 at second singles) and Alexis Poulton (6-0, 6-1 at third singles).

Golden Eagles edge Barons 3-2
