The Olentangy Liberty boys golf team picked a nice time to shoot a school-record round, firing a 288 in the first OCC match of the season Monday at Turnberry.

The effort sets the Patriots up nicely, giving them the lead in the early going. There’s still a lot of golf to play, with three rounds left to decide the OCC-Central Division champion, but the tone has been set.

Trey Rath led Liberty with a 69 — his best round of the season — while Cameron McCloskey (70), Kyle Mitchell (72), Ronnie Foth (77) and Jon Flees (80) also chipped in.

Upper Arlington finished second with a 292, Central Crossing was third with a 293 and Dublin Coffman smoothed out the top four with a 296. Hilliard Davidson (305), Thomas Worthington (318), Marysville (334) and Westland (404) rounded out the scoring summary.

The 288 breaks the school record set way back, well, last week, when the Patriots fired a 291 last Tuesday.

The Patriots’ Anna Delaney and Lizzie Radkiewicz teamed up for a 6-0, 6-0 win at first doubles while Avivah Wang and Cellini Ko completed the sweep with a 6-0, 6-0 win at second doubles.
