The Pacer defense duplicated its Week 1 performance, maybe even improved upon it a little, and the offense took things to another level on the ground as Hayes notched a 21-7 non-league win Friday in Marysville.

Ethan Tucky scored on a nine-yard run to account for the only points of the first half, then plowed into the end zone from a yard out to give the Pacers some breathing room in the fourth.

He also had a 23-yard TD run in the third to make it a 14-0 game.

The senior Boston College commit finished with 89 yards rushing to go with the three touchdowns while Deven Ward averaged close to 10 yards a carry with 88 on nine carries.

Junior quarterback Cullen Moore, meanwhile, completed six of his 12 passes for 70 yards.

The Pacer defense did the rest, allowing just 89 total yards. Marysville managed nothing on the ground, actually lost a couple yards, on 27 carries.

Tucky finished with eight tackles, four assists, two sacks and three tackles for loss while Josh Hyatt had an interception for the Pacers.

Marysville was led by junior quarterback Nathan Snyder, who completed nine of his 17 passes for 91 yards, a touchdown and an interception. The touchdown was a 25-yard pass to senior receiver Pierce Scott — the team’s longest play of the game.
