Patriots claim top 3 spots at classic

Freshman Gracie Sprankle, sophomore Emma Bower and senior Claire Linn led the Liberty girls cross country team to the title at Saturday’s Westerville North Classic, sweeping the top three spots.

Sprankle finished first overall (18:39.22), Bower closed second (18:41.62) and Linn finished third (19:54.0).

Sarah Colvin (sixth in 20:43.81), Meghan Piero (seventh in 20:56.86), Madeline Ailes (ninth in 21:10.15) and Emily Matta (10th in 21:13.45) also earned top-10 showings for the Patriots.

Big Walnut, led by freshman Jocelyn Lucas’ 29th-place showing (23:14.20), closed seventh as a team.

Morgan Hemming was also solid for the Golden Eagles, crossing the line 34th overall (23:45.94).

Granville Invitational

Orange freshman Allison Guagenti and Olentangy freshman Lex Brookshire nabbed top-10 finishes, leading their teams to solid showings at Saturday’s Granville Invitational.

Guagenti finished fourth among individuals (19:34.3) to power the Pioneers to a third-place showing. Brookshire, meanwhile, helped the Braves finish fifth as a team by crossing the line sixth overall (19:40.3).

Other area standouts included Olentangy’s Melina Endsley and Orange’s Lindsey Ott, who finished 12th (20:09.0) and 13th (20:14.2), respectively.

Bucyrus Elks Invitational

Kennedy Cramer finished 19th (21:56.59) and Analise Lajeunesse closed 25th (22:14.54) to lead Buckeye Valley to an eighth-place showing at Saturday’s Bucyrus Elks Invitational.
