The Delaware Christian seniors didn’t just lead their team to a thrilling 45-40 girls basketball win over host Patriot Prep Saturday … they helped DCS coach Jackie Boggs notch her 200th win.

“The seniors stepped up in the fourth quarter and willed them to victory,” Boggs said. “I’m thankful for my three seniors — Erin (McCullough), Liz (Sullivan) and Elizabeth (Blackburn) — for their leadership on and off the court.”

The Eagles (5-4, 4-1 MOCAL), who trailed 31-28 heading into the fourth, outscored the hosts 17-9 in the final frame to smooth out the scoring summary.

Blackburn stuffed the stat sheet with 12 points, eight rebounds, eight steals and two assists. McCullough added a team-best 13 points while Sullivan finished with six rebounds.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Nick Hyatt made five of his eight three-point attempts on the way to a game-best 22 points, leading Buckeye Valley to a 67-56 MOAC-Red Division win over visiting River Valley Saturday in Delaware.

The Barons (5-1, 4-0 MOAC), who won their fifth straight, outscored the Vikings in every quarter except the fourth, when the teams each scored 18 points. BV led 15-11 after one, 32-25 at the half and 49-38 by the end of three.

Hyatt added three rebounds, three assists and three steals to his stat line. Grant Kelly was also solid, finishing with 15 points in the win, while Mitch Rotondo finished with eight points and a team-best five rebounds.

Teays Valley 49, Hayes 42

Jake Bourget finished with a season-high 17 points and Zach McIntire added 15, but it wasn’t enough as Hayes fell Saturday at Teays Valley.

Patriot Prep 72, Delaware Christian 50

The Eagles got off to a slow start and never recovered, falling to host Patriot Prep Saturday.

Adam Standley led DCS with 12 points.
