Haley Osborne and Katie Fleshman combined to toss a one-hit shutout as the Pacers rolled past the visiting Cougars 18-0 in five innings in the first round of the Division I Central District softball tournament Monday in Delaware.

Osborne threw the first three innings. She walked one and struck out two without surrendering a hit. Fleshman fired the final two innings, allowing just the one hit while striking out two of her own.

The offense handled the rest, scoring 14 times in the second inning to all but seal the deal.

Amaia Daniel and Chloe Barton homered. Daniel finished 2-for-3 with four RBI and three runs scored while Barton was 1-for-2 with an RBI and two runs scored.

Other standouts included Bobbi Adams, who finished a perfect 4-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored; Alex Armstrong, who was 3-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI and three runs scored; and Lexi Mattix, Audrey Hannahs and Osborne, who collected two hits apiece.

With the win, 18th-seeded Hayes will take on 17th-seeded Olentangy Wednesday in Lewis Center.

Pickerington North 11, Orange 8

Ally Brandt had three hits to go with a couple of runs scored, but it wasn’t enough as the Pioneers fell to the host Panthers in their tourney opener Monday in Pickerington.

Marlo Robinson and Alyssa Laisure were also steady, finishing with two hits apiece, while Brenna Oliver had a hit and three RBI.

Liberty 20, Thomas Worthington 0, 5 inn.

Arica Flaugher and Katelyn Wilhelm each homered to lead the Patriots to a blowout win over the visiting Cardinals in the first round of the Division I Central District tournament Monday in Powell.

Wilhelm wasn’t bad from the circle either, tossing a no-hitter.

Liberty set the tone with a six-run first. The Patriots added three in the second, two in the third and nine in the fourth to smooth out the scoring summary.

Next up, 22nd-seeded Liberty will take on fifth-seeded Mount Vernon Wednesday in Mount Vernon.

Delaware Christian 21, Gahanna Christian 2, 5 inn.

Delaware Christian erupted for 15 runs in the second inning on the way to a MOCAL win over visiting Gahanna Christian Monday in Delaware.

The offensive attack was a balanced one as eight different players picked up hits for the host Eagles. Emily Parrish, Caitlyn Ruminski, Madie Morgan and Haileigh Darnell finished with two hits apiece while Cassidy Justice, Annie Wallace, Zoe Twigg and Michelle Flick had one each.

Wallace led the way with three RBI to go with two runs scored while Morgan and Darnell both scored three times.

Kara Haskins was also productive, scoring four times despite finishing without a hit.

Morgan, meanwhile, limited Gahanna Christian to just an unearned run on two hits. She struck out eight in her 3.2 innings of work. Haskins closed things out with 1.1 innings of hitless ball.

DCS opens tourney play today against host Fairfield Christian.

Marysville 16, Olentangy 2, 5 inn.

Morgan Cox and Sydney Hall had hits, but they were the only two the Braves managed all game long against Monarch pitching.

Host Marysville, meanwhile, scored seven times in the second and plated eight more runs in the third to cruise to a non-league win Monday.

The Braves open the tournament Wednesday against visiting Hayes.

BASEBALL

Liberty scored the game’s first run, but visiting Reynoldsburg outscored it 5-1 the rest of the way to post a 5-2 Division I Central District tourney win Monday in Powell.

The Patriots answered the Raiders’ two-run third inning by scoring the tying run in the fifth, but Reynoldsburg came right back with three more in the sixth to create some separation.

Craig Lutwen led the Liberty offense, finishing 4-for-4 with a run scored. Mitchell Okuley, Connor Stewart and Mitch Milheim were also steady, finishing with two hits apiece.

Hunter Voorhees suffered the setback on the mound, allowing five runs (four earned) on seven hits while striking out six and walking four in 5.1 innings of action.

Hayes 18, West 3, 5 inn.

The Pacers opened the postseason with a flourish, rolling past visiting Columbus West 18-3 in the first round Monday in Delaware.

The game was pretty much decided after Hayes’ eight-run second, but, just for good measure, the Pacers added nine more in the ninth.

Ben Yoakum, Gabe Phillips, Mason W. Davis, Sam Midura, Dominic Byers and Zach Price led Hayes’ 14-hit attack with two apiece. Tyler Brown and Byers knocked in three runs apiece while Yoakum and Mason W. Davis each scored three times.

Mason J. Davis picked up the win on the mound, allowing just two hits in three scoreless innings of work. He struck out six.

Next up, 32nd-seeded Hayes will take on third-seeded Olentangy Wednesday in Lewis Center.
