Slade brothers commit to Michigan State University

Brothers Zach and Jacob Slade — a pair of anchors on what has been a formidable Olentangy defensive front over the past few years — have been playing football together for a long time.

A trend that will continue.

“Beyond excited to announce that I am continuing my academic and athletic career with my brother at Michigan State University,” Jacob announced on Twitter Sunday night. “I want to thank my family and all of the coaches that have helped me become the football player I am today.”

Zach pretty much echoed those sentiments.

“First of all, I would like to thank my family and coaches for their endless support and for dedicating so much of their time to develop me into the player that I have become.”

The Spartans are getting a disruptive duo … in a good way, of course. The brothers combined for 25 tackles for loss with the Braves last season. They had a combined 115 total tackles and 12 sacks, eight of which belonged to Jacob. They forced seven fumbles, with Zach recovering two of them.
