Godfrey, Rath make cut at Ohio Amateur Championship

Delaware graduate and University of Toledo sophomore Grant Godfrey and Liberty senior Trey Rath both made the cut following the second round of the 2017 Ohio Amateur Championship Wednesday at Springfield Country Club.

Godfrey (even) has been sharp since the event teed off Tuesday morning. He followed up his opening-round 70 with another even-par performance on Wednesday.

He hit 14 greens and 10 fairways, highlighting his second-round showing with a pair of birdies and an Eagle to close tied for fifth overall. Godfrey, looking to make up ground on Centerville’s Austin Sipe (-5), Pickerington’s Garrett Brickley (-3), Springfield’s Luke Wells (-1) and Cincinnati’s Brennen Walsh (-1), is slated to start today’s third round from the No. 1 tee at 9:40 a.m.

Rath (+11), meanwhile, was tied for 60th through two rounds. He followed Tuesday’s 76 with a 75 Wednesday afternoon. He’ll start from tee No. 10 today at 8:20 a.m.
