Buckeye Valley, Big Walnut, Hayes, Olentangy girls all notch season-opening wins

The Buckeye Valley girls soccer team scored early and often in Friday’s lopsided 14-1 season-opening win against host Heath.

Daelynn Rosser, Megan Hon and Lauren Lewis each scored a pair of goals in the win. Hannah Cowen, Ellen Riley, Liz Gedde, Veronika Legg, Jillian Hon, Dana Richardson, Sela Whitney and Evy Wirth also found the back of the net.

Megan Hon added a team-high two assists to round out a four-point effort.

Hayes 8, Whetstone 0

Maddie Smith notched a hat trick and Emma Vessels scored twice to lead the Pacers to a blowout win in Friday’s season opener against the visiting Braves.

Emilie Kinney, Sydney McMillin and Maddy Wilson also scored in the win, with McMillin adding a team-best two assists.

Abby Weller had one save in the Hayes goal.

Big Walnut 5, Teays Valley 0

The Golden Eagles dominated Friday’s season opener at Teays Valley, scoring five times without allowing a shot on goal.

Emma Padgett scored twice while Alexis Schone, Alle English and Morgan Bodker added tallies to smooth out the scoring summary.

Olentangy 2, DeSales 0

Kylee Beinecke and Sydney Walker scored goals to lead the Braves to a non-league win over host DeSales in Friday’s season opener.

McKinley Hoffman finished with eight saves in the Olentangy goal.

Liberty 3, Dublin Coffman 3

The Patriots trailed 3-1, but stormed back against a quality Coffman squad to salvage a 3-3 draw in Friday’s season opener in Dublin.

Madison Rapier, Gia Gaetano and Anna Hadley had the Liberty goals while keeper Riley Cartwright had eight saves.

BOYS SOCCER

Hunter Blair scored a pair of goals and Michael Kline kept a clean sheet in goal as Big Walnut blanked host Teays Valley 4-0 in Friday’s season opener.

Chase Geddis and Sam Mason also found the back of the net for the Golden Eagles.

Also: Heath 2, Buckeye Valley 1.
