Lisa Leienberger calmly connected on a pair of free throws with 10 seconds remaining to lift the Buckeye Valley girls basketball team to a thrilling 60-58 overtime win over visiting Marion Harding Saturday in Delaware.

“It was a good game … back and fourth,” BV coach Landon Fraker said. “Logan (Hatcher) hit some critical shots in overtime, and so did Alaina (Radcliffe).”

The Barons trailed 13-8 after a quarter, but doubled up the Presidents 18-9 in the second to take a 26-22 lead into the locker room.

Harding sliced into the deficit by a point in the third and outscored Buckeye Valley 13-10 in the fourth to force overtime — a period the Barons won 12-10 to seal the deal.

As Leienberger’s pressure-packed tosses would suggest, the free throw line was very good to BV, which made 21 of its 29 shots from the charity stripe (72 percent) to notch the key MOAC-Red Division win.

Morgan Scowden, who hit four of the team’s five three-pointers, led the Barons with 16 points. Radcliffe was also solid, finishing with 15 points and seven rebounds while Megan Veneman added 14 points and a team-best four assists and Hatcher closed with six points and nine boards.

Orange 44, Dublin Scioto 42

Lena Mancini hit what proved to be a game-winning free throw with 30 seconds remaining as Orange held off a hard-charging Dublin Scioto squad for a non-league win Saturday in Lewis Center.

The Pioneers looked to be in good shape after an 18-10 third quarter ballooned a 19-16 halftime edge into a 37-26 lead heading into the fourth.

The Irish outscored the hosts 16-7 in the fourth, but, thanks to Mancini’s clutch toss, couldn’t complete the comeback.

Schae Lilley led Orange with a game-best 15 points while Hannah Sargent finished with 10 in the win.

Wellington 48, Delaware Christian 26

Erin McCullough scored 17 points to go with 10 rebounds, but her double-double wasn’t nearly enough as visiting Wellington notched a non-league win Saturday in Delaware.

The Eagles were outscored 12-6 in the first quarter and, after winning the second 11-8, scored just two in the third quarter as points came at a premium against the taller Wellington squad.

Liz Sullivan added six points and five boards while Elizabeth Blackburn closed with two points and four rebounds in the setback.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Orange picked up its second win in as many days Saturday, using a big third quarter to knock off visiting Dublin Scioto 60-54 in non-league action in Lewis Center.

Down 27-25 at halftime, the Pioneers outscored the Irish 19-11 in the third to take control.

Grant Gossard led the way with a game-high 16 points while Zack Stablein and Colin Shepherd finished with 13 and 10 points, respectively.
