Liberty continued its solid start to the season, handling a solid Olentangy squad 4-1 in non-league action Thursday in Lewis Center.

The Patriots, who won their previous two matches by 5-0 margins — shutout wins over state-ranked teams — swept the doubles courts and took two of three at singles.

Singles winners included Alexia Meyer, who beat the Braves’ Bri Brdicka 6-0, 6-3 at first singles; and Cellini Ko, who beat Janie Miller 6-0, 6-0 at third singles.

Sidney Reineke and Lizzie Radkiewicz won by a 6-2, 6-1 margin at first doubles while Avivah Wang and Cecelia Ko won 6-1, 6-1 at second doubles.

Kathleen Jones nabbed Olentangy’s lone win, outlasting Alexis Steer 7-6 (1), 6-4 at second singles in what was the most competitive match of the day.

Big Walnut 3, Jonathan Alder 2

Big Walnut won its first match of the young season, dropping visiting Jonathan Alder 3-2 Thursday in Sunbury.

Macie Kercsmar was the Golden Eagles’ lone singles winner, notching a 6-3, 6-0 win at first singles.

Other Big Walnut winners included Katie Germann and Lexie Kirkpatrick, who teamed up to secure a hard-fought 7-5, 6-4 win at first doubles; and Anna Faust and Abby Friend, who earned a 6-4, 6-1 win at second doubles.

Hayes’ doubles teams started the season with wins, but they weren’t enough as visiting Jonathan Alder swept the singles action to nab a 3-2 win Wednesday in Delaware.

Kara Wegmiller and Kelsey Knodell teamed up to notch a 6-1, 6-1 win at first doubles while Paris Knipp and Emily Miklas earned a 6-2, 6-3 win at second doubles.
