Wright-Patterson AFB in Ohio shutting down well

DAYTON, Ohio (AP) — An Ohio U.S. Air Force base is shutting down a drinking water well after environmental regulators directed that it stop using it because of contamination concerns.

Wright-Patterson Air Force Base officials said Thursday they will work closely with the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency to develop a long-range plan to resolve the issue.

Regulators had reported last week that water samples showed high levels of a chemical agent in firefighting foam.

A health advisory was issued for pregnant or lactating women and for bottle-fed infants. The base has distributed bottled water and used it for medical center patients and food preparation.
