Ohio set to release unemployment, jobs data for November


COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — State officials are due to update Ohio’s unemployment rate and other jobs data.

The report expected Friday from the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services will show the unemployment rate for November. It also will show job gains and losses in sectors such as manufacturing, construction and health care.

Ohio’s unemployment rate rose to 4.9 percent in October, compared with 4.8 percent in September. The October rate for the state also was up slightly from 4.7 percent a year earlier.

The number of workers unemployed in Ohio in October was 280,000, up from 275,000 in September.

Ohio’s unemployment rate in October was in line with the national average of 4.9 percent.
