Police charge Ohio man after car hits cruiser, he flees

FRANKLIN, Ohio (AP) — A Dayton man has been arrested and charged with assault on a police officer and other offenses after authorities say he drove a car toward an officer, hitting her cruiser.

A woman told police investigating a domestic disturbance Saturday that 23-year-old Tavon Wallace had fled in her car.

Police say an officer saw the car coming toward her at an intersection and turned on her emergency lights before getting out. They say Wallace jumped from his vehicle and ran. His car hit the cruiser and rolled toward an apartment building, where it was stopped by a large rock and a satellite antenna.

Police apprehended Wallace about 20 minutes later. He’s being held without bond pending a court appearance Tuesday. It wasn’t immediately known if he’s represented by a lawyer.
