COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Authorities say a young Ohio man long suspected of setting a dumpster fire that spread and badly damaged a Buddhist temple has been arrested after a lengthy investigation.
Investigators in Columbus say the January blaze began with one of several trash-bin fires that were started in the area. Authorities say the temple fire caused about $455,000 in damage.
Columbus fire investigators say they have arrested a 19-year-old Columbus man who will be charged with arson. They say they anticipate more charges.
Authorities say businesses and residents in the area shared surveillance video to help multiple law enforcement agencies with the investigation of the fire at Karma Thegsum Choling, a temple for followers of Tibetan Buddhism.
