Ohio man convicted in fatal stabbing sentenced to 25 years

TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) — A man convicted of fatally stabbing one man and wounding two others at a state park in northwest Ohio has been sentenced to 25 years in prison.

Twenty-three-year-old Maurice Clark Jr. was sentenced Monday in Toledo to a reduced charge of involuntary manslaughter in the death of 24-year-old Karl Avery. Avery was stabbed June 11 at Maumee Bay State Park, just east of Toledo. Clark also was convicted of two counts of felonious assault for stabbing two other men that night.

Prosecutors say Maurice Clark stabbed the men after an argument.

Clark’s brother, Elijah Clark, was sentenced Monday to four years in prison for two counts of complicity to felonious assault.

Messages seeking comment on behalf of the Clark brothers were left at their attorneys’ offices.
