Chrissy Fuller’s resignation was accepted at the July 25 Galena Village Council meeting.
Fuller, whose council term began in 2014, has moved out of the village and is building a home in Harlem Township.
Council appointed Dave Walker to complete Fuller’s term through December 2017. Walker was appointed recently to the village’s zoning and planning commission. He resides in the Estates at Blackhawk and is retired from management, environmental and engineering positions with the Ohio Valley Electric Corp.’s Kryger Creek Power Plant in southeastern Ohio.
He has served on school boards for Gallipolis City Schools and the Gallia-Jackson-Vinton Joint Vocational School and has been involved with Boy Scouts and the Lions Club.
Council also endorsed the mayor’s appointment of Allison Cherubini Hillyer to the zoning and planning commission. Hillyer is a business development consultant for the classic car program at Nationwide Insurance, where she has been employed for 10 years. Before that, she was with State Auto Insurance for 11 years.
She has a bachelor’s degree in insurance and risk management from Ohio State University. Hillyer and her husband are Walnut Creek residents and have three sons.
Mayor Thomas Hopper read a proclamation recognizing Jason Watts’ service to the village. Watts served as the village’s wastewater treatment plant operator since 2012, and has assisted in the maintenance of the wastewater collection system for more than a decade. He recently moved on to other employment opportunities.
Village Administrator Jeanna Burrell reported that the Galena Brick Trail bridge decking is complete and railings should go up soon. After that, paving and grounds repair are all that is left to complete the 2,370-foot segment of the Ohio to Erie Trail.
R&R Pipeline is completing installation of $530,000 worth of new Del-Co Water supply lines in the Village. Work is progressing on Middle Street, the final leg of replacing all the main supply lines in the village. Crews are beginning to connect service lines to individual residences.
