Delaware City Schools BOE approves staffing changes, trips

The Delaware City School District board of education approved a number of staffing changes and student trips at its meeting Tuesday night.

Several resignations were approved by the board, including Lori Blackburn, a teacher at Delaware Christian School; Andrea McCanney, a school-age-child-care (SACC) program assistant at Dempsey Middle School; Trisha Philbrook, an educational assistant at Delaware Christian; and Kimberly Todd, the head administrative assistant at Hayes High School.

The board approved the following employment recommendations:

• Kimberly Green, an educational assistant at Carlisle Elementary School;

• Linda Harrison, an educational assistant at Schultz Elementary School;

• Sarah Isbell, a technology specialist at Schultz Elementary School;

• Morgan Lisenbee, a SACC program assistant at Carlisle Elementary School;

• Bruce Merriman, an education assistant at Dempsey Middle School.

The board also approved supplemental contracts for the 2017-2018 school year. The contracts included athletic coordinators, athletic assistants, and the Destination Imagination coordinator.

The board also approved three trips for students. The first trip is for the Hayes High School Orchestra to travel to New York City from March 22 to March 25, 2018. The second trip is a trip for several Hayes students to visit colleges in several universities in Boston from April 2 to April 7, 2018. The third one is an eighth grade French class trip to Quebec City, Quebec, Canada from June 5 to June 9, 2018.

Additionally, the board approved bus stops for the 2017-2018 school year.

The board’s next meeting will be on Sept. 5 at 6 p.m. at the Willis Education Center.
