Within the next two weeks, you might see a slight transformation in the look of the Delaware County District Library website. We are migrating to a more secure web host and a few things will change in the appearance of the www.delawarelibrary.org site that you’ve come to know. However, none of the services or day-to-day actions you use will change.
What’s fun about building a new website is it offers an opportunity to take a close look at everything on the current site. I’ve been spending a lot of time on our “Research” page, which hosts the various websites and research databases to which we subscribe. This is one of the pages where you’ll see the most visible change, and I think for the better.
Each website on the research page now has a small icon beside it that provides the site name, its logo, and a small screenshot of what you might see if you click to use the resource. As DCDL patrons, you have access to many resources that are rich in data and information that you can use in your everyday lives.
For example, did you know that we provide free access to a website called LegalForms? This site will help you begin filling out important forms with the proper legal terminology for things like wills and estates, power of attorney and name change, and landlord-tenant agreements.
You might also be excited to know that a fun website called Prices for Antiques (P4A) will help you learn about the value of antiques and collectibles that you have lying around your house. It queries local and national auction houses to see if treasures like those you own have been sold in any recent auctions and gives you their estimated value.
One of my favorite sites that I use frequently is called NoveList Plus. Once you click through to the NoveList website, you are on a journey to find your next favorite book. You can search based on a favorite book or author you’ve already read to get recommendations based on similar genres and themes. You could also just browse based on your current mood.
When we transfer over to the new site, I hope you find it smooth and seamless for your access. If you do find that your experience on the new website is less than desirable, I invite you to contact me at 740-362-3861 and I will be happy to listen to your thoughts. Next time you stop by the site, reserve one of the new DVDs that just entered our collection.
“American Assassin.” Follows CIA black ops recruit Mitch Rapp and Cold War veteran Stan Hurley as the pair is enlisted to stop a mysterious operative intent on starting a World War.

“I Do…Until I Don’t.” A comedy following three couples stuck in the web of a jaded filmmaker looking to prove that marriage should be a seven-year contract with an option to renew.
“Leap!” An orphan girl dreams of becoming a ballerina and flees her rural Brittany for Paris, where she passes for someone else and accedes to the position of pupil at the Grand Opera house.
