Ryan Jenkins has been hired to serve as the newest treasurer of Olentangy Schools, the district announced Monday. Jenkins will take over for Emily Hatfield, who resigned from the position last month after serving in the role since 2017.

Jenkins comes to Olentangy from the Pickerington Local School District, where he served as treasurer since 2013. Prior to taking over at Pickerington, Jenkins also served in the same role at both Greenon and Graham local schools in Ohio.

Before moving into district finance roles, Jenkins began his career in education as a teacher and administrator. His previous roles include serving as a middle school principal and a high school assistant principal at Northwestern Local Schools, the dean of students at Thomas Worthington High School, and as a high school math teacher in both Worthington City Schools and Federal Hocking Local Schools.

“I am humbled and honored to be chosen as the next treasurer for Olentangy Schools,” Jenkins said in a release announcing his hire. “During my tenure in public education, I have worked with the educators, administrators, school staff members, and residents of other Ohio communities to help provide students with a high-quality educational experience. I look forward to continuing that work in the Olentangy school district and know that I will be shoulder to shoulder with equally dedicated members of the One Olentangy community who envisage the same.”

Jenkins announced his resignation from the Pickerington Local School District last week, which he said was a “hard decision” after nearly a full decade of building relationships in the community. Both his sons have or will soon graduate from the district, and Jenkins said he will continue to live in the Pickerington community.

“I have grown fond of many people and wish nothing but success for the community at large,” he added.

Olentangy Board of Education President Kevin O’Brien said of Jenkins, “The Board of Education met with Ryan earlier this week and were very impressed with the caliber of his resume, his background in education and finance, and his passion for public education.”

The board will vote to approve Jenkins’ employment with the district during its board meeting on Sept. 22, which will also serve as Hatfield’s final day with the district before she moves to her new role with Otterbein University.
