The 20th-seeded Olentangy softball team scored three runs in the top of the sixth inning to even things up, but host and eighth-seeded Hilliard Bradley answered with two in the bottom half to escape with a 6-4 Division I district semifinal win Monday night in Hilliard.

Payton Kilrain, who finished a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate, led off the sixth with a single up the middle. Two batters later, Alex Newsome came through with an RBI single. A couple batters after that, Addi Hulshof singled to score a pair and make it a 4-4 game.

The momentum didn’t stay in the Braves’ dugout for long, though. With two out and two on in the bottom half, an error allowed the go-ahead runs to score — runs the Jaguars made hold up.

Newsome, Kai Cornelius and Petra Dissett backed Kilrain with two hits apiece while Hulshof had a team-high two RBI.

Candace Walters started in the circle for Olentangy, allowing four runs on five hits while striking out three and walking three in five innings of action.

Hulshof pitched the last one, allowing two runs on a hit while striking out two and walking one.
