The Central Ohio Symphony will play the first concert of its 2024-2025 season at Ohio Wesleyan University’s Gray Chapel on Saturday, Oct. 12. The concert will begin with Bernstein’s “Overture to Candide” and conclude with Beethoven’s “Symphony No. 5.”
Along with these masterworks, the Symphony will invite students from Hayes High School to share the stage in a performance of “Danzas de Panama” by William Grant Still.
With generous support from the Loft Violin Shop and the Delaware Music Boosters, the Hayes Players will spend three days leading up to the concert working with the Symphony’s guest artists, the Dalí String Quartet.
Named the 2024 Ensemble of the Year by Chamber Music America, the Dalí Quartet is acclaimed for bringing Latin American quartet repertoire to an equal standing alongside the classical and romantic canon. Tours of its “Classical Roots, Latin Soul” programming have reached enthusiastic audiences across the U.S., Canada and South America. The Quartet will perform Latin-American works by Sonia Ivette Morales and Juan R Ramírez with the orchestra during the Oct. 12 concert. It will also present a free concert on Oct. 10 at the Liberty Branch Library.
