SUNBURY — “Tracing an Ancestor Through Civil War Records” is the topic when Traci Fravel addresses the Big Walnut Area Historical Society monthly meeting beginning at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 8, in the Myers Inn Museum.
Gilbert Waters Fravel (1838 to 1923) was one of the first Fravels to be born in Ohio after they moved from Woodstock, Virginia, in 1833. Gilbert Fravel was the first from Harlem Township to enlist in the Civil War. He is Traci Fravel’s paternal great-great-grandfather. She has made it her mission to learn all about his history in the Civil War.
Traci Fravel is the daughter of the late Terry and Teresa Fravel. Her father served in the Navy. Terry was the son of Oliver Frank and Emma Fravel.
Like all of the BWAHS monthly programs, admission is free and open to the public.
