The second annual “Ready, Set, Grow!” workshop is scheduled for April 2 at the Delaware Area Career Center’s North Campus at 1610 State Route 521.

The Delaware General Health District and the Delaware County OSU Extension Office’s Master Gardener Association will present the workshop, which is aimed at helping all gardeners – beginners and experts – learn how to grow vegetables, along with providing information on health and wellness benefits.

The event will be from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Event attendees will hear featured speaker Teresa Woodard. A freelance home and garden writer, Woodard will present “Gardening for the Health of It: Dig into Backyard Exercise, Stress Relief and a Bounty of Nutritious Food.”

Attendees will then break into smaller sessions where they will learn about which vegetables are the easiest to grow, small space gardening, pest and weed control, and how to cook the harvest.

Attendees will also have a chance to gather materials, ideas and giveaways from local vendors.

Event admission is $10. Those interested in attending are asked to register online at ReadySetGrowDelaware2016.eventbrite.com. The first 100 attendees will receive a gardening kneeling pad, according to organizers.
