Elections analyst to discuss Trump at OWU

Sean Trende, senior elections analyst for RealClearPolitics and author of “The Lost Majority: Why the Future of Government Is Up for Grabs and Who Will Take It,” will discuss “Why Trump, Why Now?” April 6 at Ohio Wesleyan University.

Trende, who holds a law degree from Duke University, will speak at 7 p.m. in Benes Rooms A and B of OWU’s Hamilton-Williams Campus Center, 40 Rowland Ave. His presentation is free to the public.

In addition to his juris doctorate, Trende hold a master’s degree in political science from Duke and bachelor’s degree in history and political science from Yale University. Before becoming a full-time political analyst, Trende practiced law at Kirkland & Ellis LLP and at Hunton & Williams LLP, representing clients in venues ranging from state trial courts to the U.S. Supreme Court.

Trende joined RealClearPolitics in 2010. The online media outlet was founded in 2000.

Trende’s presentation represents Ohio Wesleyan’s 2016 Benjamin F. Marsh Lecture Series on Public Affairs. The Marsh Lecture series, started in 2001, is coordinated by Ohio Wesleyan’s Department of Politics and Government and the Arneson Institute for Practical Politics and Public Affairs.

During his lifetime, Marsh, a 1950 OWU graduate and attorney, held numerous political posts at local, state and national levels, and served as registration supervisor and adjudicator for the U.S. Department of State to the Organization and Cooperation in Europe and as an election supervisor in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
