Sept. 8 is the deadline for grant applications for 2015 from the Delaware County Foundation.
Grants support projects and programs in arts, civic affairs, education, environment, health and social services.
The community grants program awards grants to nonprofit organizations serving Delaware County. Grants range from $1,000 to $5,000.
A few of the organizations receiving grants from the foundation this past year were: American Red Cross of Delaware, Canine Companions for Independence, Common Ground Free Store, Family Promise of Delaware County, Grace Clinic of Delaware, Literacy Coalition of Delaware County and the Ohio Wesleyan Junior League Camp.
Grant dollars are available because of charitable funds established at the foundation that were created by individuals, families, businesses and organizations.
“People want to give back in a meaningful way, now and beyond their lifetime,” says Marlene Casini, president of the Delaware County Foundation. “They create charitable funds at the foundation. We help match the needs of the community with the donors’ interests.” The foundation reviews grant applications, verifies information, awards grant dollars and reports on the use of the funds.
Any amount can be donated to the community grants program. “The more grant dollars to distribute, the more the foundation makes a significant difference in the lives of those served by our nonprofit organizations,” says Casini.
Nonprofit organizations can apply online at the foundation’s website, www.delawarecf.org under the grants section.
Grant funds will be awarded before the end of the year. A complete list of 2014 grantees is also available on the website.
