Members of Galena United Methodist Church are holding their sixth annual “Moving With the Spirit” five-kilometer run/walk on Saturday, Aug. 15, this year benefiting Adaptive Homes’ “Homes 4 Heroes” project in Delaware County.

Adaptive Homes is building a home at 293 Prairie Run Road in Sunbury for Marine Corps veteran Mike Damroze and his wife, Kelsey. The home is being constructed with Mike’s specific needs in mind, and the build will be ADA-compliant.

The “Moving with the Spirit” 5K travels along a scenic route in Galena that also goes through a gated community.

Adult participants will receive a race T-shirt if registered by Aug. 7.

The registration fee is $25 until Aug. 7. It’s $30 on Aug. 8 and after. Kids race for $2.

The race will be held rain or shine, and no refunds will be given.

Packet pick-up is on race day. The race begins on Sunbury Road and finishes on church grounds. Water will be provided twice on the course, and at the start and finish of the race.

Registration brochures are available at local businesses and also at the race sign on Galena Square, or picked up at Galena United Methodist Church at 2777 Sunbury Road. Register online at Active.com.
