Three people were killed in a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 71 in Delaware County’s Orange Township Saturday night.

Dead are Martin J. Stewart, 60, of Cleveland, Ohio; Kim A. Power, 49, of Ontario, Canada; and Adrian D. Brown, 39, of New Lexington, Ohio.

The Delaware post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol said the crash occurred at about 9:40 p.m. on Saturday on I-71 near mile post 124 in Orange Township.

According to state troopers, Stewart and Power were involved in a single-vehicle crash while operating a northbound 2003 Chevy Trailblazer on I-71. They lost control of the vehicle they were operating, drove off the left side of the road and struck a guard rail.

Brown was driving a northbound 2005 Honda Civic on I-71 and stopped to assist Stewart and Power. Stewart, Power and Brown were standing next to the Chevy Trailblazer in the median, troopers said.

Tabitha S. Douglas, 40, of Mansfield, was driving a northbound 2011 Nissan Versa on I-71 and failed to maintain control of her vehicle and drove off the left side of the road, troopers said. Douglas’ vehicle struck Stewart, Power and Brown, then struck the 2003 Chevy Trailblazer on the driver’s side, troopers said.

Both vehicles came to final rest in the median on I-71, two tenths of a mile south of mile post 124.

Douglas sustained non-life threatening injuries, troopers said, and was transported by Orange Township EMS to St. Ann’s Memorial Hospital.

Stewart, Power and Brown all swere pronounced dead at the scene, troopers said.

Douglas was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

Alcohol and/or drug use is not suspected, troopers said, but the crash remains under investigation.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted by the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office and Orange Township Fire and EMS.
