Sunbury’s annual fishing derby will be on Saturday, April 30, at a new location.

The village has partnered with Sunbury Christian Church to host the 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. event in the parking lot at the church’s 250 Rainbow Ave. location.

Sunbury’s eastern up-ground reservoir will be stocked with rainbow trout by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources before to the derby.

Activities for the day have been designed for children age 15 and under.

Bait and tackle will be provided, but participants are encouraged to bring their own fishing poles (though poles will be provided if needed), and to wear closed-toe shoes.

Derby participants will receive free T-shirts with early registration. Forman Realtors will provide free trees.

The day includes contests, games, prizes and trophies, and a farmers market and food court will be on site.

To preregister go to sunburychristian.com, click “fishing derby registration” and follow the directions.
