The Delaware County Sheriff’s Office says it is still seeking the community’s help in identifying a man they say was discovered in a Berlin Township home when a 15-year old resident returned home on May 11.

Sheriff’s detectives report they are still investigating and attempting to learn the identity of a man who was found in a Cheshire subdivision home in Berlin Township when a 15-year-old girl returned from school.

Originally, deputies suspected an abduction attempt, but officials said on Facebook that they believe it may have been a burglary in progress. However, deputies said the residents did not report anything stolen.

Deputies said she fled her home and went to a neighbor’s house where she called police. The girl was unharmed.

On May 12, the sheriff’s office’s Facebook page stated that investigators were looking for help identifying the intruder and hoped that anyone in the Cheshire subdivision area with home security systems or anyone who saw something suspicious Wednesday could contact them at 740-833-2891.

Officials said the man was wearing a red hoodie and a black mask during the encounter.
