A Delaware man who authorities say robbed the Family Dollar store on South Sandusky Street last month has pleaded not guilty to robbery charges.

Frederick Allen Price, 43, of 225 S. Sandusky St., Lot 23, was in Delaware County Common Pleas Court Thursday where a trial date was scheduled. He entered not guilty pleas to two counts of robbery, which are third-degree felonies.

Judge Everett Krueger scheduled a trial for Nov. 24 and continued the $25,000 bond set for Price in Delaware Municipal Court on Aug. 31.

Price told Krueger on Thursday that he had his top teeth removed two days before his arrest but hadn’t had impressions for dentures made yet. Price asked Krueger to allow him to have impressions made so he could eat the food at the Delaware County Jail.

Krueger said he would not rule on the request until he had more information. Price’s attorney, Suzanne Slowey, said she would get the information and file the appropriate paperwork.

Prosecutors allege that on the afternoon of Aug. 29, Price went to Walgreen’s at 19 London Road, and walked up to the cashier. Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Mark Sleeper said Price put his hand in his shirt and motioned with it, implying he had a gun, and demanded cash. Sleeper said the cashier ran from the register, and Price then fled Walgreen’s empty-handed.

Police report that Price then went into the Family Dollar store at 165 S. Sandusky at 6:10 p.m. and got in the checkout lane. Police say Price once again implied he had a gun and demanded money from the cash register.

However, this time he was successful and he fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash, police said.

Police arrived and, with the assistance of store personnel, were able to quickly obtain a photo of Price via the CCTV system. Police said officers canvased the area and nearby witnesses recognized Price.

Prosecutors said police tracked Price to a mobile home park off Sandusky Street. Price was taken into custody a short time later and police said they recovered the money stolen from the store.

Price was being held in the county jail Thursday afternoon.
