Moving to a new community can be unsettling. New residents typically are starting fresh, developing personal relationships, and learning about the business community that’s in place to serve them.

To help ease the transition to becoming a member of a new community, members of the Sunbury Business Group of Delaware County will hold its second annual “Meet & Greet and Ice Cream Social” for new Big Walnut area residents from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Sunbury Village Square, Thursday, Sept. 17.

The ice cream social will introduce new residents to local businesses serving the community; and guests will have the opportunity to meet with 27 member businesses that serve the greater Big Walnut area.

Big Walnut Schools Superintendent Angie Pollock and Treasurer Terri Eyerman-Day will also be in attendance to discuss the school district. Also attending will be Sunbury village Administrator Allen Rothermel.

In addition to ice cream, there will be a prize drawing for an Apple TV.

“We were excited about the turnout for this event last year, so we’re doing it again,” said Joyce Wagner, a member of the group. “The ice cream social will be a fun, informal way to meet community leaders and learn about opportunities and resources in the area.”

Wagner said the Sunbury Business Group of Delaware County was founded in 2014 to link the community to business, service and philanthropy opportunities that serve the citizens.

“This ice cream social is the second of a series of quarterly events conducted by the Sunbury Business Group of Delaware County to welcome new residents and connect with existing residents as the community grows,” Wagner said.

The group currently has 27 member businesses that are dedicated to providing world-class products and services to the residents of Delaware County.
