Police sergeant completes program

Westerville Police Sgt. Charles “Cappy” Chandler recently graduated from the School of Police Staff and Command at Northwestern University.

Chandler has been with the Westerville Division of Police for more than 15 years, and currently works in the department’s investigations unit.

Chandler successfully completed the 22-week staff and command program, part of the university’s Center for Public Safety. He is one of 25 students in his class. The program has graduated more than 18,000 students.

The School of Police Staff and Command provides upper-level college instruction in a total of 27 core blocks of instruction in topics including leadership, human resources, employee relations, organizational behavior, applied statistics, planning and policy development, budgeting and resource allocation.

Chandler is from Marengo and has a graduate degree from Columbia Southern University. In addition to his work in law enforcement, Chandler also served in the U.S. Army and is an adjunct faculty member at Columbus State Community College.
