Sunbury Cleaners is hosting its annual summer food drive to help stock the shelves at the Big Walnut Friends Who Share food pantry.
For each can or non-perishable box of food you drop off at Sunbury Cleaners, you will receive $1 off of your dry cleaning bill, up to $10 per order, through August. Sunbury Cleaners manager Jane Milburn said no outdated food items will qualify for the discount.
Friends Who Share needs food pantry help in the summer months, Milburn said. Closer to the school year holidays – Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter – individuals and groups hold food and fundraising drives for the food pantry. During summer, with a new school year approaching and summer vacations on family schedules, Milburn said budgets are stretched thin and the shelves at Friends Who Share look a little bare.
“Everybody has needed help at some time or other in their life,” Milburn said. “This is just one more way Sunbury Cleaners can join with our customers to give something back to the community.”
