Willow Brook open house Sept. 14

After four months and more than a million dollars worth of preparations, Willow Brook Christian Village has completed a renovation of The Courtyard Restaurant and the acquisition of its new day services program, called “Willow Brook by Day.”

A ribbon-cutting celebration and breakfast open house will be held with the Delaware Area Chamber of Commerce from 8 to 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 14, at the Village Commons, off U.S. 23 and Cottswold Drive.

The open house will highlight the new features of the commons, including Willow Brook by Day, the adult day services center formerly operated by National Church Residences with funding from SourcePoint.

The Courtyard Restaurant area has expanded into the four outdoor courtyards. Also to be highlighted will be offerings from a new outdoor wood-fired pizza oven imported from Italy. That courtyard and other food stations in several locations around the building will feature breakfast items and beverages.

“The construction process was a tremendous challenge,” according to Willow Brook Christian Communities CEO Larry Harris. “It affected every single person, since it involved temporarily moving each of the three dining areas into activity lounges and the Terrace Room banquet hall upstairs. I can’t tell you how proud I am of the good humor maintained by both residents and the staff during the process. It took incredible coordination and cooperation to accomplish, and they did it smoothly and graciously.”

The public may attend the open house and take a tour of the facility.
