Airport plan, rate hikes considered

The city of Delaware’s Airport Commission will discuss the need for a strategic business plan and T-Hangar rental rates at the Delaware Municpal Airport.

The commission will examine a strategic plan for King County International Airport on Boeing Field in Seattle, Wash. at tonight’s special meeting. The sample plan was sent out to members this week and city manager Tom Homan will discuss the matter with commission members.

“We are looking to the commission to consider something similar, but on a smaller scale, for the Delaware Municipal Airport,” said city spokesman Lee Yoakum. “A strategic plan can help set the direction and establishes priorities for the airport.”

The commission will discuss rental rates for the airport’s 60 hangars.

“The t-hangar rate discussion is to examine rates on the city owned t-hangars, and if increases are warranted,” Yoakum said. “The current range is $179 to $405 per month, depending on amenities.”

The commission will meet at City Council chambers at City Hall, 1 S. Sandusky St., at 7 p.m.
