Leeds Farm to open with autism, military family events

Leeds Farm, a family-owned pumpkin farm in Ostrander, will open for the 2016 harvest season on Saturday, Sept. 17 by hosting the 10th annual Leeds Farm Autism Harvest Festival. It runs from 9 to 11 a.m.

The Leeds Farm Autism Harvest Festival is a free event for central Ohio children and adults with autism and their immediate family and grandparents. Leeds Farm opens to the public at 10 a.m. ofor the first day of its 2016 season. Autism families are welcome to stay and enjoy the farm throughout the day.

During the festival, a display area is available for autism service providers and support organizations. Providers can reserve space and families that wish to attend can RSVP to Sherry Fisher at [email protected] or 740-225-3256.

The Leeds Farm Military Families Salute will also take place during the farm’s opening weekend. On Sunday, Sept. 18, Leeds Farm welcomes active duty and retired military personnel, their children and grandchildren to enjoy the farm and receive 50 percent off barn pass admissions for the entire day.

To receive the discount, a family member must present a valid military ID card. No registration is necessary.

Leeds has expanded its hours, opening on Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m., from Sept. 17 through Oct. 30. Leeds Farm is closed Monday through Friday except for Friday, Oct. 14, when the farm will be open from 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

New this year is Paintball on the Porch. The spacious porch of the new Green Barn at Leeds Farm is the location of Paintball on the Porch. Paintball guns are mounted in the porch shooting gallery ready to aim at targets in the pasture. Paintballs are available for purchase.

Leeds Farm is located at 8738 State Route 36, Ostrander, and features fall family fun on the farm. Farm activities include many barnyard and play barn activities such as hayrides, feeding farm animals, Pumpkin Jumps, farm pond, John Deere combine slide, mountain slides, zip lines, rolling tubes, straw forts and thousands of pumpkins and gourds grown right on the farm.
