A Delaware woman is now in stable condition after being injured in a fatal crash in Union County Tuesday afternoon just off of County Road 132.

Marcia Ball, 71, of Delaware, was a passenger in a 1997 Chrysler Town and County minivan that was travelling east on CR 132 near milepost 2 in Dover Township before the van went off the road and struck a tree at 4:44 p.m. Tuesday.

The driver of the van, Christopher Ball, 59, also of Delaware, was pronounced dead after being transported to Union County Memorial Hospital.

Troopers from the Marysville post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol report that after the van left the road, it overturned and struck a tree before coming to rest.

Marcia Ball was transported to Grant Medical Center with critical injuries, troopers said. Hospital staff said Wednesday that she was still in critical condition but have upgraded her condition to stable Thursday afternoon.

The crash remains under investigation but troopers said they do not believe alcohol was a factor. Seat belts were worn by both occupants.

Meanwhile, an Ashley man injured in a crash on Case Road on Sept. 24 has been upgraded to fair condition by OSU Wexner Medical Center staff.

State troopers report Nathan W. Cain, 24, was injured in a crash on Case Road when he failed to negotiate a curve in the road and went off the road, striking a tree.

Cain was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital and then was then flown by helicopter to OSU Wexner Medical Center with serious injuries.

Hospital staff said Cain was in the surgical intensive care unit in critical condition in the days after the crash but said Thursday that he had been upgraded to fair condition.

Troopers said they believe alcohol was a factor in the Cain crash.
