“Boo at the Zoo” will be back for the next two weekends at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium in Powell, featuring new attractions for its 2015 Halloween run, scheduled for Oct. 16-18 and 23-25.

This year’s event features five themed areas throughout the zoo: Sugar Patch Place, Super Hero Lagoon, Frogwortz, Eerie Shores and Pumpkin Junction.

In Sugar Patch Place, families can take a self-guided tour of Candy Mansion as well as explore a mini-maze of hay featuring favorite Disney villains, presented by Disney on Ice Let’s Celebrate. Baked goods will be available at Bakersfield Zoo, a gingerbread-themed display featuring zoo animals.

Super Hero Lagoon features a live-action superhero show at the Animals on Safari Stage. This action-packed performance featuring Marvel super heroes takes place daily at 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. A catered daytime showing will take place from noon to 2 p.m. Oct. 17, 18, 24 and 25. The lunch must be reserved in advance and tickets are available for purchase at columbuszoo.org.

Frogwortz Academy will return to Asia Quest. Guests can be sorted into their houses, walk the halls of the wizards as well as learn from them during the Wizardry 101 class performed by Otterbein University theater students.

At Eerie Shores, Otterbein University theater students will inspire young buccaneers to join their crew at the pirate skull session. Step into Discovery Reef and hear the tales of the deep from the diver demonstration.

North America will be transformed into Pumpkin Junction. The new, free Hanna’s Hay Ride will transport guests from Pumpkin Junction at Polar Frontier to Super Hero Lagoon on a tractor-pulled trailer with spooky Halloween tales told along the way.

The rest of the park will will feature several treat station clusters. The animals will receive their very own treats during the Pumpkin Smash. Animal care team members will provide keeper talks throughout the day.

The zoo will be open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday.
