Project updates on committee agenda

Updates on projects and activities are on tonight’s agenda for the city of Delaware’s Public Works/Public Utilities Committee.

The Public Utilities Department will provide an update on four ongoing projects:

• A 42-inch pipe was recently installed last month as part of the first phase of storm water improvements on Bernard Avenue. The project is mostly completed with some pipe rehabilitation scheduled this month, according to city spokesman Lee Yoakum.

• A workshop last month focused on 2016-2035 planning conditions and a 10-year-storm analysis workshop as part of the update to the sanitary sewer collection system master plan. A draft master plan is expected to be available for city review this month with a final report and presentation tentatively planned in November.

• Improvements for the wastewater plant’s aeration system are to be substantially completed by Nov. 30. The project includes installations of two new direct-drive aeration blowers this month, while rebuilding two existing blowers.

• Installation of the advanced meter infrastructure for 13,000 Delaware residents is underway with nearly 1,950 installations completed as of Thursday.

No information was available on updates for Public Works Department projects.

In other business, the committee will have a presentation about the 2016 pavement condition report and an update to the 2016 transportation plan.

The meeting will take place at city hall, 1 S. Sandusky St., in council chambers 7 p.m.
