Harlem Wizards take on Pacer All-Stars

The Harlem Wizards basketball team will face off against the Delaware Pacer All -Stars on Thursday, Oct. 27 at Hayes High School. The event is hosted by the Delaware Rotary Club with all proceeds going to the Delaware City School Activity Scholorship Fund and the Rotary Foundation. Tip-off is at 6:30 p.m.

Gas stations focus of historical event

The Delaware County Historical Society will host two public events in October at the Barn at Stratford, 2690 Stratford Road, Delaware. On Saturday Oct. 15 is “Republican Day at the Barn.” Political displays, including the Political Campaign Memorabilia exhibit, will be available for viewing from noon to 5 p.m. At 1 and 3 p.m. there will be a presentation on the history of politics in Delaware County. Tickets are $20 for adults and can be purchased at the door, or in advance by calling 740-369-3831, extension 3. Youth 18 and under are free.

On Tuesday Oct. 18 at 7 p.m. Brent Carson will speak about “Gas Stations of Delaware County.” This is a free program based on the display at the Delaware County Fair last month. Details about the historic gas station photographs will be presented, followed by a question and answer session. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.; tours of the Meeker house will be given before and after the program.

The Delaware County Historical Society is a non-profit organization whose mission is to promote and sustain interest in the history of Delaware County through historic preservation and education.

Part of East Orange Road to close

The Delaware County Engineer will be closing East Orange Road between US 23 and Orange Center Drive to reconstruct the east leg of the intersection. The road will close Monday, Oct. 17 and is scheduled to open Wednesday, Nov. 23.
