Organ recital set for Thursday

The Asbury First Thursday Noontime Recital Series will welcome Sara Seidel and Jo Pascoe from St. John’s Episcopal Church, Worthington, for a program titled “Organ Music Based on the Poetry of Hymns: Celebrating the poetry of hymns in both word and composition.”

It will be this Thursday at 12:15 p.m. Listeners will have the opportunity to hear dramatic readings of the texts which composers have interpreted in their organ compositions.

Sara Seidel holds degrees from the College of Wooster and Jacobs School of Music (Indiana University, Bloomington) in both Organ Performance and Church Music. Her primary teachers have included John Russell, Marilyn Keiser, and Christopher Young. She currently coaches with Todd Wilson. Ms. Seidel is the Coordinator of Music at St. John’s Episcopal Church where she directs a growing adult choir and oversees The Music Series at St. John’s Worthington.

Jo Pascoe holds a BA in speech and drama from Marygrove College in Detroit, Michigan. Following her graduation she taught speech and drama classes for elementary school children in the Detroit Public Schools until moving to Worthington.

There is no charge for the First Thursday recitals. Tables will be set and beverages provided for those who wish to enjoy lunch during the recital. Asbury is handicapped accessible from its rear parking lot entrance.
