Delaware County grand jury indicts alleged burglars

Five individuals were included in a 14-count indictment issued by a Delaware County grand jury Friday in connection with a series of home burglaries.

Police said a number of homes were entered in the northwest part of the city between Oct. 6 and Oct. 20, and a variety of items were stolen. Prosecutors said the stolen items included jewelry, money, credit cards, televisions and DVD players.

Police said the group was not an organized crime ring but they knew each other and friends.

The five individuals indicted by the grand jury are:

• Rickie Lee Severt Jr., 33, of Ostrander, who is charged with five counts of burglary, which are second-degree felonies; four counts of theft, fourth-degree felonies; two counts of receiving stolen property, fifth-degree felonies; breaking and entering, a fifth-degree felony; and one additional count of receiving stolen property, a fourth-degree felony. An arraignment is set for Nov. 6 at 10:15 a.m. in Delaware County Common Pleas Court.

• Adam James Steele, 29 of of Ostrander, who is charged with three counts of burglary, second-degree felonies; three counts of theft, fourth-degree felonies; receiving stolen property, a fifth-degree felony; two counts of breaking and entering, fifth-degree felonies; and one additional count of receiving stolen property, a fourth-degree felony. An arraignment is scheduled for Monday at 10:30 a.m. in common pleas court.

• David Thomas Lamb, 33, of Delaware, who is charged with two counts of burglary, second-degree felonies; two counts of theft, fourth-degree felonies; receiving stolen property, a fourth-degree felony; and receiving stolen property, a fifth-degree felony. An arraignment has not been scheduled.

• Shane Hooper, 27, of 102 W. Lincoln Ave., Delaware, who is charged with two counts of burglary, second-degree felonies, two counts of theft, fourth-degree felonies; receiving stolen property, a fourth-degree felony; and receiving stolen property, a fifth-degree felony. An arraignment has not been scheduled.

• Amanda N. Cain, 24, of 32 Belle Ave., Delaware, who is charged with receiving stolen property, a fifth-degree felony. An arraignment has not been scheduled.

Severt, Steele and Lamb were being held in the Delaware County Jail Friday. Warrants have been issued for the arrests of Hooper and Cain.
