While most residents will be thinking about the election the next day, a group of area ministers will be sponsoring a Community Prayer Service on Monday, Nov. 7 at 7 p.m. at the William Street United Methodist Church.

“While our nation awaits the results of this bitterly fought Presidential contest, the representative variety of clergy will be leading concerned citizens in prayer for God’s guidance as our nation seeks to find ways to heal from the bitter divisiveness of the campaign,” a news release states.

The area pastors who have prepared the service are: Mark Allison (First Baptist Church), Julie Carmean (William St. United Methodist Church), and Terry Highland (St. Peters Episcopal Church). Among the cross section of Pastors with leadership roles in the service itself will be: Mark Allison, Julie Carmean, Michael Curtis (Second Baptist), Terry Highland, Dave Pacheco (Grace Church), Deb Patterson (First Presbyterian), Jon Powers (Ohio Wesleyan Chaplain) and Michael Watson (St. Mary).

The 45-minute service will include several thematic movements on thanksgiving, trust, hope, peace and love. East segment will include scripture, a very brief reflection, spoken and silent prayer and quiet music.

The public is invited to attend this Ecumenical Prayer Service “as Delaware prepares to move beyond partisanship to a new sense of Christian community.”
