Delaware State Park, in conjunction with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Waldo Sportsman Club, will hold its annual youth fishing derby at the Youth Fishing Pond near the Park Marina on Saturday.
The first 100 children (ages 15 and under) to register for each of the 9 a.m., 10 a.m. or 11 a.m. slots will be able to participate. Three starting times are offered to enable as many youth as possible to enjoy the derby. Each child registered will be able to fish for an hour.
No fishing experience or equipment is necessary. Youth can enjoy fishing with everything provided that they will need. The pond is stocked with bluegill, catfish, crappie and saugeye.
After their fishing experience, each child will receive a lunch of a hot dog, chips and pop or water.
Delaware State Park is at 5202 U.S. 23 North.
