A trial has been set for a man accused of robbing the First Merit Bank in Lewis Center in June of this year.

Seth P. Kafoure, appeared in Delaware County Common Please Court Thursday morning where he entered a not guilty plea to two counts of robbery, second-degree felonies and two counts of theft, a fifth-degree felony and a first-degree misdemeanor.

When Kafoure was indicted on Oct. 14, prosecutors reported that on June 15, 2016 deputies responded to a robbery in progress call from First Merit Bank in Lewis Center.

“A man presented a note demanding cash to a teller,” Delaware County Prosecutor Carol O’Brien said when Kafoure was indicted. “The man, who received money from the employee, was caught on surveillance video.” Prosecutors said the indictment also includes charges related to a June 8, 2016, Huntington Bank robbery in New Albany.

After accepting his not guilty plea, Delaware County Common Pleas Court David Gormley scheduled a trial for Jan. 31 and set a pretrial hearing for Jan. 9. Assistant Delaware County Prosecutor Andrew Bigler said the trial would likely take several days because there is a large amount of evidence involved in the case.

Kafoure’s attorney, William Leber, said that Kafoure is already in prison from charges relating to a June 10, 2016 robbery of a Fifth Third Bank in Warren County, Ohio. Leber said Kafoure will be released from prison in June of 2021.

Since Kafoure is currently incarcerated at the Correctional Reception Center in Orient, Ohio, Gormley gave Kafoure a recognizance bond.
