Genoa Township to appoint new trustee

As a result of Genoa Township Trustee Rick Carfagna’s election to the Ohio House of Representatives, District 68, remaining Trustees Karl Gebhardt and Frank Dantonio announce their search for candidates to fill Carfagna’s remaining unexpired term of Jan. 1-Dec. 31, 2017.

Candidates for trustee appointment must submit a cover letter outlining their qualifications, resume, references and a Genoa Township Employment Application. Materials must be delivered no later than noon on Dec. 1, to either the Genoa Township Administrative Office located at 5111 South Old 3C Highway or emailed to [email protected]. Details of the New Trustee Appointment Procedure can be reviewed online at www.GenoaTwp.com.

Following an initial review of candidate applications and supporting materials, finalists will be announced at a Trustee meeting on Dec. 5, and interviews scheduled. Finalists will verbally present their qualifications during a Trustee meeting to be held on Dec.15. Residents of Genoa Township may express their support or opposition of a finalist(s) in writing to Township Administrator, Paul Wise. Using information gained from the process and other sources, Trustees Gebhardt and Dantonio will attempt to make an appointment.

“It has been an honor serving as Trustee,” Carfagna said. “To see how far we’ve come in the past seven years, our community has much to be proud of and I’m grateful to our residents for allowing me to have been a part of this effort. As a resident, I care deeply about the direction of Genoa Township and plan to remain involved in whatever capacity possible.”

Carfagna will continue serving as Trustee until Jan. 1, 2017 when he will be sworn in as State Representative. Trustees Gebhardt and Dantonio’s goal is to appoint a new trustee by Dec. 31, 2016. However, if the Trustees cannot agree to a Trustee appointment by Jan. 30, 2017, the unresolved appointment will be submitted to Delaware County’s Probate Judge for resolution per Ohio law.
