New traffic signal to operate

The traffic signal at Plumb Road will go into full operation at 9 a.m. on Thursday. The sign at the signal has been posted with that date, according to the Ohio Department of Transportation District 6.

Olentangy middle school pays tribute to veterans

Hyatts Middle School has declared November as Military Appreciation Month. The school will host a number of events throughout the month to raise student awareness of the service the military provides. Students have set the goal to collect 450 boxes of supplies to be donated to Operation Buckeye, of which will mail them to troops serving overseas.

The school will celebrate Living History Day on Nov. 18., which will feature more than 100 veterans visiting classrooms to speak to students. The event will start with a breakfast provided by the staff and parents, followed by a ceremony for the veterans.

Each veteran will be matched up with an “eighth-grade buddy” for the day. The National Guard will also be on hand with artillery, equipment and vehicles for students to see.
